Derek Walker Trial 2016

Our Derek Walker Trial strated once again from Delemont Country Park just outside of Killinchy. The event attracted 56 entry’s including some drivers who made the trip up from the South of Ireland. On the day 49 cars started the event due to a few non starters.

The event started with two tests within Delamont itself then a loop of tests around the Downpatrick area and to Ardglass and back. A lunch break was held again at Delamont with soup and sandwiches provided for all competitors before heading out for another loop of tests starting with a test combining the two car parks at Delamont. Unfortunately two tests in the afternoon had to be cancelled making a total of 18 tests on the day.

The event ended with 44 finishers with James Wilson taking the title for the 3rd year running and a total of 5 times – making KOI’s 100th event that little bit more special. Robert Dickson finished in 2nd position just 9.3 seconds behind James in the Paddy Hopkirk replica Mini with Sam Wilson just 0.7 seconds behind Robert.
