ULSTER CENTRE WINS PRESTIGIOUS MGCC NUFFIELD GOLD CUP

Mike Armstrong, MG Ulster Centre President, has just announced that the Ulster Centre has been awarded the Nuffield Cup, the most prestigious trophy in the Club.

At the recent MGCC AGM in England, the surprise announcement was made. Mike broke the news as follows:

“Hello all,

I am sending this note to let you know, if you haven’t already heard, that the Ulster Centre

was presented with the prestigious magnificent “Nuffield Gold Cup” when Carol Willis and I attended the MGCC Council Meeting at the weekend.

The cup was originally donated by Lord Nuffield to go to the MG Centre showing the “most meritorious growth, enthusiasm and enterprise during the previous year”.

In presenting the cup the outgoing Club Chairman – Ian Quarrington – praised the Centre for not only celebrating its 50th Anniversary but also the energy, enthusiasm and friendliness of the Centre.

Therefore – a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have worked so hard over the last 2 years and have given you, the Centre members, some 20 competitive events of a very high standard, a dozen or more social events including a Tour and a Gala Dinner, and a bimonthly MaGazine. Well done to everyone who has participated and, to those who didn’t – don’t be shy, let’s see you in the coming year.

Very best wishes.

Mike Armstrong
MGCC Ulster Centre President

Club Treasurer, Richard Colston, also offered his congratulations to the Ulster Centre adding “I would very much like to take this opportunity to most sincerely congratulate the Ulster Centre on the marvelous achievement of securing the Club’s most prestigious award, the Nuffield Gold Cup.

I am only sorry that Mike and Carol could not take it home with them, but the value is substantial, and so beyond the comprehension of Insurers for that flexibility.  Hopefully the photos are now circulating.

I very much hope this brings your 50th Anniversary Year to an appropriate climax.  If any of your members visit Kimber House, then the Cup can be made available for them to see, or they could even pop some champagne in it!”

We are delighted to win the Nuffield Cup and it does indeed reflect the hard work that has gone int making the past two years so successful and a tribute to the friendliness of our members. This is something of which we in the Ulster Centre can be justifiably proud.
